Description
The swing screen presents you with a power meter on the right. Quickly stroke up and down to build power on your backswing. The meat and potatoes, though, is a U-shaped meter at screen left. (You don't get a reverse setup for left-handed golfers). Sweep down to build power, then up and left to drive through the ball. Finish your swing slightly to the left to draw the ball left; finish on the right, and the ball will fade right. Can aiming your shot get any more intuitive than that? As we're quickly discovering with the DS touch-screen, the answer is an emphatic No! Move the stylus left and the ball flies left; move it right, and the ball flies right. It will make you wonder how you played golf games all these years without a stylus. Judging power takes more work. After overshooting the green a few times, you'll start to learn how to master your brute strength. Before putting, your virtual caddy will tell you exactly how many feet and inches away from the hole you should aim your shot. Unfortunately, the grid has no measurements, so exact placement is guesswork. You then tap the icon to putt -- no swing meter here. Tiger DS starts you off with an overhead view of the hole. The "Pocket Caddy" gives simple tips on playing each hole, but the advice is limited to tee shots. You have a choice of five types of swings: full, punch (low trajectory) and pitch, flop and chip approach shots. You get a full complement of clubs: three woods, six irons, three wedges and a putter.Reviews
